About the Artist
My name is Leonie Roth. I am English and I currently live in Arizona.
I am an abstract artist. I went to Art college and received a teaching certification for primary and junior high in art and English. I taught English and Art for 20 years. I retired from the Ministry of Education at the age of 42 and I am on an early pension but I continued to teach at a learning Disability Institute for 3 years. In parallel I taught English at a private school which was a High school for pupils with learning disabilities. I taught English for the matriculation exams-A levels.
I hold a bachelor degree in Education from the Faculty of the University of Leicester, England in 2000. I stopped teaching a decade ago and ever since I have been a full time artist.
I have traveled the world because my father was a building engineer and he worked internationally. I was born in Nigeria. I lived in a few countries. For example: Nigeria (Port Harcourt and Lagos), Tanzania (Dar es Salaam), Kenya (Nairobi), Cyprus (Limassol), Iran (Teheran), Israel (Haifa), UK (Knebworth), Scotland (Glasgow). Europe, Thailand, Maldives and Hawaii.

What inspires me?
The principal theme in my work is nature.
My inspiration comes from being in so many countries and absorbing different cultures, breathtaking views, animals and nature.
My artwork is eclectic.
I have been painting from the age of five. Art is my soul.
Behind each of my abstracts is a story. I paint to express my feelings and insights of my personal experiences in life.
I use vibrant colours to emphasize the drama. I usually use black as a background for my paintings. I use all colours of the rainbow. I paint in acrylic on canvas.
